I am a sucker for romantic love stories! I grew up admiring my grandparent’s love story and their storybook romance. They are a true testament to the meaning of true and unconditional love. My grandparents met during WWII. My grandpa and his younger brother were fighting in the war. His brother was dating my grandma’s best friend, Mary, at the time. My grandma had tragically just lost her fiancé in the war. She was heart broken. Mary thought the two would be a perfect match, so she decided to convince her boyfriend to have his brother reach out and write my grandma a letter. He wrote to her and the rest is history.

They were happily married for 71 years. They both past away earlier this year within months of each other. They couldn’t live without each other very long. Our family always joked that they had that “Notebook” kind of love. Just like the Notebook, it wasn’t perfect and there were trials and tribulations, but the love they had for each other was real, fierce, passionate, and unconditional. The kind of love that everyone yearns for and what storybook romances are made of. After decades of marriage, they still had that spark and thought the world of each other.

My grandparent’s love story sparked my appreciation for love and romance and shaped my view of how love should be. It has carried on with me throughout my life and into my career as a wedding photographer. It has made me love LOVE and love capturing it!

My absolute favorite thing about being a wedding photographer is getting to know my brides and grooms’  and their love story. How they met. How they fell in love. What they adore most about each other. Every love story is different. By knowing these important details, I can tell my couples’ beautiful love story and capture their wedding day in a way that is intimate and unique to them.

I almost cried reading this. We lost one of my grandpas before I was born and my other set of grandparents divorced before I was born as well. My own parents divorced when I was in high school. THIS is the kind of love that I know exists and that I hope to maintain with my husband. I know it’s possible and their’s are the stories that I want to be told of me and my spouse! Thank you for sharing!

What a beautiful story and inspiring for all married couples and those still searching for their soulmate. I also love the photograph of the two of them together at the end of their lives- so touching.
