Enjoy your day

In this high tech, fast paced culture of sleep deprived, multitasking, workaholics. I find it increasingly difficult to stop to rest. I read an interesting article this week that said “a person gets half a much accomplished when multitasking as when focusing on one thing at a time.” I heard a radio broadcast about people not being able to think to their full capacity because they are so over loaded with technology. Although none of these things are bad in themselves, a calendar can quickly be completely filled with work, family, tv and the internet.
It is really easy to get so busy that you forget to take care of yourself… Also, when I do things that I enjoy, I start to feel guilty as if I should be doing so many other more important things. But I have to remind myself that I cannot give to others when I have nothing left to give… Thus, giving to myself helps me to be a better Christian, wife and friend to others.
Here are some things that help me to be better:
Spending time with God and staying in His word; doing a daily Bible study helps me to keep life in proper perspective. It’s easy to get caught up in things and start comparing yourself to others rather than God. He is my rock and keeps me stable when storms come. I cannot base my faith on anyone other than Christ. He is all I need.

Going to the pool is one of my favorite things that I rarely take time to do. Summer is my favorite season and every fall I ask myself why I didn’t go to the pool more. Eating snow cones are also one of my favorite summer pastimes… I’m trying to enjoy both more this summer.

Although I’m not a big fan of mornings, I feel so good after David and I go for an early jog. I never regret it afterwards and investing in your health is important.

Lastly, I like to take time to enjoy the sun setting… the grand finale of everyday. Here are a few of my favorite sunset quotes:
“There’s a sunrise and a sunset every single day, and they’re absolutely free. Don’t miss so many of them.”
“If I can put one touch of rosy sunset into the life of any man or woman, I shall feel that I have worked with God.”
“Never waste any amount of time doing anything important when there is a sunset outside that you should be sitting under!”

I hope you enjoy your day! XOXO, Kim
