This Fort Worth Botanic Garden Engagement Session was so much fun! Derek and Erin are so happy together and I love all the laughter that came through in their engagement photos.  Check out Erin’s account of their sweet love story:

Derek and I originally met in organic chemistry lab our sophomore year of college. We were both biomedical engineering students and worked two hoods down from each other, so it was chemistry from the start…organic! Haha. The first thing that I ever said to him, when I turned around after weighing my extracted product, was “look! I made snow!” He loves to give me grief about that being our first encounter. We really started connecting our junior year in our computer statistics class when he “needed help”…which was obvious that he didn’t! We started dating soon after that and continued dating long distance. Derek went to graduate school in Richmond Virginia and I went to medical school in Fort Worth. Then Derek matched into a medical physics residency in NYC, all still dating long distance for the past three plus years!!! Derek proposed by flying in town to surprise me over Easter weekend. We only see each other every few months and we had seen each other in February, so I thought I wouldn’t be seeing him until May. He flew into town to surprise me and took me to the Dallas arboretum, waited for a nice spot with no one in sight and asked me a question we both knew the answer to! It was always going to be us together,  there was no doubt in either of our minds. Distance really does make the heart grow fonder, and we feel so blessed that we have been able to make this work. But like Derek says, long distance is easy when I have him on the other end.
