This morning I was spending time with God… I was praying about my dreams for photography and Africa and this is what I heard in response:
He told me that He created me to soar like an eagle (doing exactly what He created me to do), but I was being like a dog: too busy with my head down following my nose. He said, if He wasn’t leading me I would get hit by a car because I wandered out on the highway. Sometimes He gives me some crazy illustrations, but they’re very effective:)
I didn’t hear this in a mean way. I took it more as He has great things for me and I need to look up instead of being pulled down with every distraction around me. As the eagle longs to spread its wings and would never be satified to wander the earth, hopping around on the ground, there’s something restless inside of me that longs for so much more. The Psalmist says, “Oh God, you are my God; early will I seek you: my soul thirsts for you, my flesh longs for you in a dry and thirsty land, where there is no water.”
I’ve heard it said that sometimes you get stuck working in your life instead of working for your life… meaning you’re so busy working in the moment (the daily grind) that you’re too busy to do things that will make your life better. It’s important to try to change your perspective. Get above the situation at hand.
Today I’m choosing to look up.
