The Freedom to Choose : a lesson I have learned.

The Freedom to Choose : a lesson I have learned.

I broke up with my boyfriend (who is now my husband) for 6 months because he asked me to marry him and I felt called to be a missionary in Tanzania. He told me he did not want to be a missionary. I felt like we were going in two different directions.

I prayed so hard that God would show me his “perfect” will for my life and heard: “You can go to Africa, marry David, or do anything you want, but as long as you love Me with your whole heart, I will bless you. You have the freedom to choose.”

I knew that I loved David and decided to marry him! Shortly afterwards, we met a missionary couple to Kenya. David immediately connected with the husband and they have become very close friends. Check out their website: www.real4christ.com

We are currently planning our fifth trip to Kenya to work with this couple and have been married for 5 years. David is in Bible college majoring in missions:) I have seen God change my husbands heart and bless our marriage more than I ever thought possible.

There was a time when I was so concerned with finding God’s will, that I was afraid to make any decisions and live life. He told me to love Him first and He would bless me. I feel like Christians these days over-complicate life and decision making. My advice is to try starting with loving God with all your heart and see where He takes you.

I've felt the same way (afraid to make decisions out of God's will)… and honestly, I still do. My post about soulmates in P31 was in response to my confusion, and after all of that discussion, your simple line so poignantly summarized the answer. It was something I knew and yet didn't even know I needed to hear. Thanks for sharing, Kim!
PS, love me some Kristin Shyla!! Had the opportunity to work with her in Texas. Super small world.
